good to know craven. i just always get a bit defensive when sometime tries to lessen my credibility due to my age, because i assure you i don't fit the mold of the average 24 year old. i really don't blame you though, because even at 24, i usually look down upon the musical opinions of my peers. it's rare for someone that young to have a developed enough ear for the music to accurately dissect and it and fully grasp the breadth of the dead's music.

i can't stand a lot of the people i meet at shows who are my age, and usually end up having nice long conversations with folks in the 40-60 age range. the people my age are fun, but when it comes to the musical discussion, i just can't take them seriously. most deadheads my age don't have 10% of the exposure that a lot of you more experienced folks have, however i know that's not the case with me. i take comfort in the fact that by the time i'm 30, i will have as much knowledge and exposure to this band as some heads who've been listening to them for 20+ years.

when i obsess over something, like i do with this band, you'd be amazed at how much listening/learning i can do in such little time. efficiency is the name of the game. you can find me listening to the boys before i go to sleep, in the shower, anytime i'm in the car, and just about any free moment i get. anyway, end of rant. that colgate university show has me in a happy rambling mood right now.

bath salt though? not just table salt? while we're on salts, the bath salt epidemic in recent years is disturbing. what a disgusting substance to put in one's body, and the rates of usage are highest among people under 18. why can't kids today just smoke weed? they should be grateful for the high potency strains that are so widely available these days.

Only 24? Why, I was younger than you when I saw one of those Bob Stars! So there! Hah!

Or, to put it more accurately, I saw a Bob Star but didn't know I saw a Bob Star. I didn't know there was a thing called a Bob Star until much later. Guess I thought it was just Bob going off.

What does that make me? A newbie oldie newbiesque oldie?

I'm impressed that you're only 24. I'm even more impressed that there are whippersnappers like you, CC, Wisc and MC who give diddly squat about this band. Clearly good taste isn't age related :-)
